JourneyApps Container v4.21

We’re excited to announce v4.21 of the JourneyApps Container, a significant update for your app users!

object-repeat

As you know by now, object-* components (object-list, object-table, etc) can loop over a query and display the results to the user in some format. Unfortunately, this is not possible for all components (display-picture, heading, info, etc) and this leads to unintuitive UIs being built to compensate for this lack of functionality. Not anymore. Introducing object-repeat - which, when combined with other components, gives developers the ability to loop over queries and render UI accordingly. For more info, please read the object-repeat docs.

Introducing Cards

Your users deserve great apps, and to give them great apps you need components that are fresh, useful & in line with modern trends. That’s why we built the card component. The card component, in combination with object-repeat, is great viewing lists of data that are more verbose, like for messages or jobs that have a status attached to them. For more info, please read the card docs.

Colorful Buttons

Buttons are a developer’s best friend. In the past, all buttons were either the primary or secondary color - making it difficult to visually distinguish between a “Save”, “Edit” and “Delete” button. (And in the process confusing your users!) That’s why we added the ability to specify the color of individual buttons. Developers can do this by specifying the color as an attribute on the button element, e.g. color=”positive” will color your button the same as your app’s positive color.

With just a dash of color

You build serious, powerful, hard-working & great all-around apps. Allow us to take care of how it looks. We’ve revisited color usages across various popular components. You’ll notice sharper looking object tables, clearer headings and more. We’ve added two new colors to the palette, info and warning. As a bonus, we’ve redesigned the color theming page for developers. Also, note that all of these colors are available to use on card and button components.

Control the Hamburger Menu

To your users, the hamburger menu is the app’s menu and it shouldn’t matter whether it is on a container level or an app level. That’s why we’ve added the ability for developers to add their own entries to the hamburger menu. Have a “Help” view to get new users up and running? Add it to the hamburger menu so that they can find it from anywhere. Want to replace the system built-in “Messages” view for Push Notifications with something more tailor-made for your app? Go for it. For more info, please read the Global View docs.
